Well, here it is. I have been working on this bike off and on now for over a year. When it runs, it is a blast to ride. It has an amazing amount of power for a 65 cc engine. I am no light-weight, but this sucker PULLS! I have heard that the top-speed on a Shortster is about 50. I cannot vouch for that, but I have had mine up to 30 mph (and getting scared in the process), and it was still pulling.

Here is what I have done to it so far....

Mechanical

• I rebuilt a 65 cc engine I procured. That by itself is a whole 'nuther web page
• fixed the brakes (they were frozen)
• fixed the shifter
• new cables
• rewired the whole bike (still not quite finished, as you can tell by the wires coming out of the switch, and the tail light)
• new carb
• new exhaust (maybe the last NOS one left in the country. Not bad for $50!!)
• fixed the speedo
• new gas line

• Repainted the frame
• Repainted the wheels
• Polished the brake housings
• Painted the gas tank (needs to be redone after my last move)
• Recovered the seat
• Painted all painted surfaces

• New tires (still riding the original Pirellis!)
• Finish the wiring
• Rechrome the handlebars
• rebuild the front forks
• repaint the gas tank. Maybe get a set of custom flames on it!!

All in all, I have been very pleased with it. It is a royal pain to keep running, as it always wants to shear the woodruff key on the magneto, and it floods at the drop of a hat, but it is mine.

I am gonna keep on working on it, and get it street licensed. THEN the fun begins. I am looking forward to my first Harley meet  ;)
